I’m Back!

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Yes I was sick and lost my voice which made my wife happy, but now I’m getting better - thought I would pass along this news story which was sent to me:

Subject: a tragic case
Raleigh, N.C. (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Cary,
N.C. courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over
who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in
keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family
unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him
more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When
the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy
cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning
that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the
judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who
should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child
welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the University of North Carolina football team, whom the boy firmly believes and the world knows is not capable of beating anyone.

The Kinston City Council met last night, and by-golly we passed the consent agenda – nothing was discussed and it was time wasted for anyone who watched it live.  If you missed it don’t worry, you can probably live without it.

Seems the voters would be better served if the work session was televised, after all that’s where the deals are made and voters don’t need to see one of those sessions – people might not get re-elected! Don’t forget to register and log-in to our chat room. click Here

Well we did it!

Last night Kathy and myself helped pull the Pirates to victory!  Don’t know what team showed up in the first half, but ECU showed up in the last half and did the job - Pirates 35, Memphis 20.

Have been working most of the afternoon setting up our new Chat Room and now it is ready just waiting for you folks to start chatting, have fun!

Our Ever-changing Blog continues …

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

For those of you who are regulars you will notice a change in our header, for you first time visitors you will not notice anything new.

The weekend is here and Kathy is allowing me to attend the ECU vs Memphis football game, however she has insisted that she is also going just to make sure I don’t make a fool of myself - which I have been know to do at football games. Of course she acknowledges that she probably couldn’t change that - but after all she did graduate from ECU and is a big fan.

At some point this weekend Fred’s Blog will be adding a free Chat Room so you will be able to chat with fellow bloggers - so keep checking back!

Got to find something PURPLE to wear to the game, so I guess a trip to “Big Blue” is in store - everthing I own is State Red.
